12/17/2023 - Congregational Meeting - 12:35 pm

Location: Providence Presbyterian Church

Moderator: TE David Hina

Clerk: RE Wil Meiners

Quorum: Established with 26 members present.

TE David Hina introduced himself as moderator and RE Wil Meiners as clerk; there were no objections.

TE David Hina opened in prayer.

TE David Hina began by raising the question, “What does the Lord desire?” He directed us to Romans 12:1-3 and challenged us to ask ourselves where we are with giving our bodies as living sacrifices to the Lord.

TE David Hina next discussed Growth Opportunities, emphasizing the value of the these elements in our spiritual growth: corporate worship, Sunday school, Bible studies, corporate prayer, praise & prayer, and kid’s night out.

TE David Hina continued with a review of the Leadership/Ministry Teams, thanking the Lord for providing additional elders and seeking the Lord’s provision for additional deacons. He also reviewed the ministry teams and the leaders of them.

TE David Hina then reviewed missionaries, local ministries, and others that we support financially. He shared the value of a missions team that would aid in communicating with missionaries and sharing that communication with the congregation.

TE David Hina discussed the Facilities and the processes in place to maintain them and prepare for significant needs for updates. He shared that some of these items are not included in the Spending Plan, but that are needs that will be addressed as the Lord provides, if any are able and would desire to contribute toward them. He particularly highlighted the need for a significant investment toward replacing the HVAC systems over the next several years.

TE David Hina then moved into a presentation of the Income/Expense for 2023 and the Projections for 2024. He pointed out that we are looking to the Lord to provide, in laying out a spending plan that is 15% higher than last year, allowing ~$18 K to be put toward the HVAC system update. He provided an overview of the broad categories of the 2024 Budget, particularly noting the increase in Ministry spending.

In highlighting 2024 Changes/Additions, TE David Hina requested that RE Garth Randall provide an update on his status as he has become licensed to preach in Highlands Presbytery and is in communication with some churches regarding a potential call. TE David Hina shared the developing plan for an Officer’s Retreat in the spring or early summer. He also shared about an upcoming youth conference, a return to General Assembly, and a continued focus on outreach and mercy ministry.

TE David Hina opened the floor for questions. There were none.

RE Wil Meiners made a motion to adjourn; second by Don Foraker; all were in favor.

RE Terry Frederick and TE David Hina closed in prayer.

We adjourned at 1:08 pm.
