How To Update ns.morfaith.org

Update "Slider Images" on Home Page

  1. Login to the site.
  2. Open a new window/tab to the "front-end" of the site (the home page).
  3. Click on "Edit Page" in the admin bar at the top of the page.
  4. Make sure "Default Editor" is selected (may be called "Content Composer"), then click on the Slider in the top section.  This will bring up the "Slider Shortcode Settings" box.
    1. Note:  this is what produces the images that you see on the homepage.  To change the text on top of the images, or to change the image itself, you have to click on it.
    2. It's important to read about the "Visual Content Composer."  It appears this was created by the folks that we got the site template from.  Read this to understand how to arrange sections on the page, and to update/change almost everything on a page.
  5. Make a note of two things in the "Slider Shortcode Settings" box:
    1. The type of slider (in this case "Revolution")
    2. The "name" of the slider (in this case "Ken Burns")
  6. Click Cancel to close the box.
  7. On the Menu List to the left of the screen, find "Slider Revolution" and click on it.
  8. Find the slider called "Ken Burns" and click on it.  This is where you can add or change images, in order to change the images on the home page.
    1. Notice that (back when you were in the "page" view) you could have added this same slider to any page, by dragging down the "slider" widget wherever you want it in the page, and then change the settings to point to this slider (Revolution and "Ken Burns")
    2. Notice (in this "Slider Revolution" view) that you can click on "New Slider" to create one with your own images, then (back in the "page" view) point to it instead of the "Ken Burns" slider.
  9. Once you've opened the "Ken Burns" slider, you'll see a small image at the top for each slide.  Drag over the image, and you can delete it.  Add another image by clicking on "Add Image"
  10. To change the text (or reposition it, etc.) on one of the slides, make sure to click on the slide to select it, then scroll down until you see the full sized slide, and change the text, add a new text block, etc.
    1. There are many settings that can be changed here.
    2. To add or change a link on a button, click on the button, select "Actions" in the top menu, and put in whatever link you want.
  11. Make sure to "save" the page when done (top right, green box)
