Deacon Meeting October 17, 2023

Present: Bill Sullivan, Steve Yount & David Hina

Steve Yount opened with prayer

Old Business: Still need to paint closet door.

Mercy Ministry: Janell has her driver's license. Jeffry is going to work towards getting his license. There may be an opportunity for him to move into an apartment in Janell’s complex.

New Business:

  • Maintenance list has been reviewed and updated.

  • Byron is going to postpone going before the Congregation for election as a deacon. Has offered to assist deacons as a “deacon in training” and hopefully moving towards becoming a deacon in the not-too-distant future.

  • Draft budget accepted by Session with several increases; Office supplies/printing to $1000 and KNO to $400.

  • Praise and Prayer keep budget at $1000. Suggested that Church to provide main dish and those attending to provide side dishes.

  • Building Fund is setup for giving. Encourage the Congregation to give towards Building Fund and Mercy Ministry over and above their tithe. This will be discussed at the Congregational meeting in December to discuss budget for 2024.

  • Geneva Benefits: Steve will contact this group to determine if they have investment programs that members could give to for the benefit of the church. He will also determine if they have insurance (P & C) programs for churches.
