  • Focus on all ministries under the umbrella of the Great Commission–why should the church engage in any ministry or outreach?  It must tie into the overall mission of the church outlined by the Lord.  It is not our team's responsibility to plan and carry out this entire task, but rather get all of the members involved by encouragement, prayer, and presenting them ideas, and inviting them to give their own ideas.
25min.Ministry Target-- Newcomers to Murphy AreaVarious Members

--Ideas focused mainly around two population groups: 1. ministry to newcomers to the community and 2. ministry to the unchurched / those in need already in our community

--Use of  "Welcome Wagon" to help acclimate newcomers to community, tell about Providence

--make welcome gift baskets for newcomers to help build and form relationships, find out who these people are from realty companies, building permits issued from courthouse, chamber of commerce

--deliver meal or give a meal / grocery card to new families in community

--host a community event to help new folks meets each other and Providence

--increase social media presence, intentional use to share about Providence with new folks

 Ministry Target–Existing Community MembersVarious Members

--Educational Meetings at church on pertinent topics to enhance quality of life, host guest speakers / lecturers

--Inquirers classes for those in need of the gospel

--meals for homeless shelter and local REACH house

--serve regular meal to the public when we increase in size to handle the logistics

--coordinate recreation program / organize area homeschool sports league

--teach abstinence program for young women

 StrategyJackie--help focus our efforts in one general area--find our niche by discovering a gap or real community need that is not currently being met.  Perhaps connect (Pastor David) with the local ministerial association to find out what other churches are currently doing so as to avoid duplication.

--have a welcome person designated to make contact with visitors to Providence, particularly in the time just prior to the service when regular members are at sweet welcome

        • Setting up & sponsoring a Cherokee County New Comers page which would pull in links to all the fragmented pages,  Chamber of Commerce, Murphy Medical Center, Tag office, Murphy Power, Schools….

        • Count number of visitors to site? 
        • Page on David & Family, photos and bios
        • Page on Elders, photos & bios
        • Update photos
  • Existing Community
    • Get David on local radio stations (Murphy, Hiawassee, Blairsville…) w/devotion…..word of the day….
    • Providing a meal(s)l for the shelters AND hosting a dinner/program for the workers/volunteers
    • Hosting a dinner for local pastors and their wives in order to find out what other bodies are doing in order not to duplicate efforts
 CommunicationTeam--The team's consensus is to disseminate these ideas to everyone in the congregation so that they may add their own ideas and most importantly take the entire matter to the Lord in prayer so that He might join us all together toward a common ministry.
