Planning Visitor & Invite Cards

At an OMT meeting, the need for the following was discussed: “cards containing info on Providence as well as (potentially) gospel content for visitor handout and for others in community.” This effort was then discussed at the next Session meeting. This page is for planning out that effort.

Plan for Cards:

  • VISITOR CARDS

    • Site: PrintPlace.com seems to be a good place for doing the visitor cards (called “Connection Cards” there)

    • Card Size: 4” x 7” (although height can be down to 5.25” - current visitor card size)

    • Layout Front (see example):

      • Top: PROVIDENCE (bold, larger type) PRESBYTERIAN (underneath - not bold, smaller type)

        • Consider using Providence graphic for the top portion

        • Background white, font black

      • Remainder:

        • Fields: Name, Phone, Email, Address (w/ 3 fields), “Information about the Church”

        • Alternate fields: Name, Phone, Email, “Where are you from? Home church?” (with larger field area for fill-in)

        • Background color: probably black (could consider “Deep Blue” from PCA logo standards guide)

    • Layout Back (see example - just blue portion):

      • Solid background color (“Scottish Blue” from PCA logo standards guide - CMYK 100 / 63 / 7 / 0)

      • Message: THANKS FOR WORSHIPPING WITH US TODAY! (bold type, large, white - each word on separate line)

  • INVITE CARDS

    • Outreach.com seems to be a good place for the Invite cards

    • Size: 5.5” x 7” (this can vary some, but generally looking at about that size)

    • Layout Front:

      • Background: edge-to-edge picture, with short message overlay (large white text, bold (?), center-justified). Two options for the picture:

        • Option #1: Pic of the city of Murphy (bird’s eye) (e.g. like this one - will need permission to use it, otherwise get another)

        • Option #2: Pic of the outside of the church

      • Message (that goes over the picture):

        • Option #1 - short form of PCA mission statement: “Faithful to the Scriptures, True to the Reformed Faith, and Obedient to the Great Commission.”

        • Option #2 - Reaching Cherokee County with the Gospel.

    • Layout Back:

      • Background color: solid color - white (open to other suggestions)

      • Upper left:

        • Providence logo, large (need to change web address to “ppc-murphy.org”) - get the logo

        • Church address (“2252 Harshaw Rd., Murphy, NC 28906”)

        • Church phone # (828.837.9412)

      • Bottom left:

        • map schematic (example):

          • will go right under the church address (might be better to have the address underneath?)

          • Need to make a graphic that just shows the main roads (Hwy 64, Harshaw Pl, Harshaw), and location of the church

      • Top right:

        • Consider having a small picture of the outside of the church

        • Times for S.S. and worship, as follows:

          • Sunday School: 10 am

          • Sunday Worship: 11 am

          • Wednesday Evening: 7pm* *Check website for updated times

      • Bottom right:

        • QR code for website (generate here, using ppc-murphy.org as the address) - large (about size of PCA logo?), to the right of the map schematic

        • PCA logo (use “Primary PCA logo in full color” from logo website)

        • Website address (large, across entire bottom): “Come visit us online - ppc-murphy.org” (note: we’ll be using this new, simpler web address, instead of our current web address - providencepcamurphy.org)

Planning Meeting - Wed, 2 June

  • Use Lynne’s prototype

    • Add “Come visit us online - ppc-murphy.org” (in separate color)

    • Generate UPC code for our website

    • Lynne to email “Murphy city pic” out

    • Each look through the examples above

    • Carol to think through the phrase on the back of “Devoted to God” book to simplify

    • David to draw up prototype on the computer

  • Visitor Cards from PrintPlace.com (they call them “Connection Cards”)

    • allow perforation to tear off part

    • sized to fit into chair-back holders

    • can design online (and can search through their stock images)

  • Helpful tips - much of this is superfluous, but some may be helpful

  • Examples from Christian.com - can use to provide design ideas

  • Examples from Pinterest - lots of designs that may be helpful

Planning Meeting - Wed, 28 April

Participants: Pastor David, Lynne, Carol D.

Discussion

  1. Decided we need two cards:

    1. Welcome card: form for visitors to fill in

      1. Audience: visitors to the church.

      2. Layout:

        1. “Welcome” in large print on one side

        2. Visitor Q’s on the card: see Lynne’s list

      3. Where: holders in the backs of seats (to replace our current multi-colored cards)

      4. Size: 4 x 6 or 7 (4 in. and less fits in slots)

    2. Invite card: Provides info about Providence (who we are, what we believe, where, etc.)

      1. Audience: hand out at outreach events (e.g. Fire’s Creek), visitor packets at the church, neighbors, etc.

      2. Layout:

        1. Side #1 - background picture of the city / county (bird’s eye), short form of PCA mission statement: “Faithful to the Scriptures, True to the Reformed Faith, and Obedient to the Great Commission.”

          1.

        2. Side #2 - Providence logo (large print - provides name of church), use PCA color scheme; small map, UPC code, church address; phone #; website; times for S.S., Worship, and Wed. night; fairly short message about us (w/ gospel focus), small PCA logo (consider using bottom rt corner).

      3. Size: TBD

      4. Examples: see this card (ignore mailer part)

  2. Quality / Cost of cards: probably order through outreach.com
